Drink and Be Merry - Mead from Honey
Mead is a delicious wine variation made from fermenting honey in the place of grapes. The earliest archaeological evidence of mead dates back to 2000 BC in Northern China and by the year 1800 BC, mead had migrated to Europe and the Viking cultures. The Vikings, the Greeks, and the Romans all considered mead to be a gift from the gods and they celebrated it as such. In Viking mythology, the honor of living in Valhalla was given to the greatest of warriors, a place where they could drink mead and fight for all eternity. Nowadays, different types of mead can be found from just about every country on Earth, even in continents that one wouldn't normally associate with mead, such as Asia and Africa. The different types of mead are made by adding an almost endless variety of fruits and spices during the fermentation process.
